Black and Drivers Hosiery Factory 61

The lady in the spotty dress in the middle row is Mrs Grace Kidger. She was identified by her grandson Mr Paul Kidger, who also sent the following information about his family:
Maybe this will be of interest to you. My family came from Barrow. My Great grandmother was Eliza Lee who ran the The Lime Kiln aka The Trap. My grandmother Grace Kidger (nee Lee), worked there as well as being a mender at Drivers. She took 'early retirement' from Drivers at the age of 80 about 1978. My father served his apprenticeship at Drivers before being conscripted into the Army in 1939....he was born in the Lime Kiln. (I later worked for the brewery who owned the Lime Kiln and my daughter was also a publican...must be genetic). My great uncle Rowland Lee was licensee of the Lime Kiln, probably up until the family left it in 1947. He was also an 'overseer' at Drivers. Another great uncle was also a foreman/ 'overseer'. Both Great Aunts were outworkers for Drivers, I think they were Linkers.
