This Lime tree was planted about 10 years ago on the roundabout between Nottingham Road, Willow Road and Fishpool Road.
There are about 30 species of Tilia. They are usually called the Lime in England but the Linden in America and Europe.
The leaves of all the species are one-sided and heart-shaped with small teeth at the margin. The small fruits are attached to a yellow/green papery strap which helps to deflect them away from the parent plant as they fall.
The lime is commonly planted as an ornamental tree.
